Digital vs. Offset Printing: Which is Best for Your Campaign?

Matching Volume to Technology

Choosing the correct printing method affects both the quality and cost of your printed materials. The decision between digital and offset printing is primarily driven by **quantity, speed, and budget**.

Digital Printing

Digital printing works like an advanced office printer, applying toner or liquid ink directly to the paper. **Pros:** Very fast turnaround, excellent for small quantities (1 to 1000 items), and allows for personalization (variable data printing). **Cons:** Higher cost per unit for large volumes, and slightly less color accuracy than offset.

Offset Printing

Offset printing uses metal plates to transfer an image onto a rubber blanket, then rolls it onto paper. **Pros:** Superior color quality, highly cost-effective for large volumes (5000+ items), and can handle specialized inks (e.g., metallic). **Cons:** High initial setup cost (making small runs expensive), and slow turnaround time.

**Rule of Thumb:** Use **Digital** for short runs, quick turnarounds, and personalized items. Use **Offset** for bulk orders (flyers, large brochures) where unit cost must be minimized.
